Devon
Turchan

Resume/Headshot
NYC Sounds Good on Turchan’s semi-improvised opera in a made-up language, Moon (II, the Down2Earth chapter):

Did I have a clue what was happening? No—but also yes, and it was beautiful. And that’s the point really, I suppose. That opera communicates beyond language. Devon also edits and composes collaborative magazine
Perraneu, a beautiful sort of multimedia showcase. It’s a rare and lovely thing to be a community builder, rarer than it should be, but Devon’s just that. As one of the performers put it: “When Devon calls, we pick up.”

At the helm of the production is the lascivious emcee, played masterfully by Devon Turchan. He slithers across the stage with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, hinting that he knows all of our secrets. He is inviting and exciting, while remaining superficial and detached, ultimately showing raw emotion in his moving number, ironically called “I Don’t Care Much.”

Ichabod Crane is masterfully played by Devon Turchan.

Devon Turchan doesn’t just perform: he peels back every layer of Hedwig, beyond camp, beyond pain, beyond irony, into the purest intimacy of the soul. It’s a staggering feat. He’s still funny, flirty, crazy, bitchy, and a whopping fab singer and dancer. But it’s the naked vulnerability of his onstage moment-to-moment discoveries that you’ll remember.

The central spotlight is squarely focused on Devon Turchan, who embodies Hedwig from flowy-blond head to sparkly-booted toe. The triple-threat actor gives an insatiably inspired performance, rousing viewers to a well-deserved standing ovation by the end of the show.

Another powerhouse performance to catapult this show into the stratosphere. Sublime acting, a beautiful, powerful vocal resonance, and dancing skills that can glide between nuanced gracefulness, to... commandeering the situation with pure brilliantly executed joy.

Performed by the mesmerizing Devon Turchan as the Klub's emcee, it was nothing short of a melodic importunement - indecent and irresistible...

In the spotlight role of the emcee, Devon Turchan is priceless. Without overplaying the slimy salaciousness of his character, he commands the stage and mixes coy vulnerability with a steely control of his tacky little universe. His is a performance that demands to be seen and relished for all its nuances, as well as its balls-to-the-wall brazenness.

Turchan has definitely created one of the most exciting performances in 2016, and haircuts. Yassssssssssss.

Turchan brought down the house as the Vietnam-bound Claude in the Near West Theatre production of 'Hair.'

Lithe and non-ambiguously fey, Devon Turchan is a comic goldmine ... Leaping across the stage like a graceful, slightly less demented Ed Grimley ... you literally can’t take your eyes off him.
